about

An ex-co-worker and a friend of his had something to say about my day job's earthquake-coverage training, and I felt like saying something back.

lyrics

You say earthquakes will make our state disappear within a couple of hundred years. How should that make us who live here feel? If it's bonafide disaster for which you pine, toss a forest fire on our timeline: fated flames we won't live long enough to appeal. Thank you, I prefer where I live to forty-nine other states, my own regal company to that of my proletarian mates. Long may the Bear Flag flap and fly against the sunrise and the early morning California sky. You say the waves will wash us away, swallow everything along our shores. Well, how should that make us who live here feel? Because ones that are wild and big and rough simply won't be evil or awful enough? Our sunken bones'll watch surviving ships' keels. Thank you, I prefer where I live to forty-nine other states, my own regal company to that of my proletarian mates. Long may the Bear Flag flap and fly against the early evening California sky. And the Golden State residents say: California (uber alles), California (uber alles), California (uber alles), California (uber alles). California sky, California sky, California sky.
